Independent practice / Applied AI

Building from the practitioner’s side.

I built and operate a boutique tax and advisory practice serving U.S. and international founders, businesses, investors, and individuals.

The firsthand context

I work across intake, research, preparation, review, filing, notices, and advisory. That gives me direct experience of where workflows break down and where tools add friction.

What I’m building

I’m developing AI-assisted systems for research, document processing, knowledge management, and practice operations, with an emphasis on privacy, auditability, and client-level data isolation.

Grounded in a working practice.

Tax, compliance, and advisory engagements across 30+ U.S. and international entities provide the practical context for this development.

Inside the current build
  • Local-first infrastructure and automated document sanitization.
  • Client-isolated retrieval and knowledge environments.
  • LLM orchestration and agentic workflows for research, document processing, preparation support, and practice operations.
  • AI-assisted development, deployment, integrations, and technical troubleshooting.

Production AI / Content intelligence

Making AI quality measurable.

Evaluating content intelligence means dealing with context, categories, and edge cases that don’t always fit a simple right-or-wrong score.

The work

I developed classification frameworks, scoring criteria, keywords, and edge-case rules for production AI used in large-scale video and content analytics.

My contribution

I translated observed model behavior into structured feedback, working with ML engineers through repeated scoring, training, evaluation, and refinement cycles.

A repeatable way to assess quality.

Qualitative observations became measurable quality signals, supported by annotation guidance and consistent QA processes.

Inside the work
  • Defined evaluation approaches for outputs that could not be reduced to binary accuracy.
  • Identified recurring classification failures and edge cases, then fed those findings into model improvement.
  • Led annotation and evaluation contributors and helped establish repeatable quality checks.

Financial analytics / Digital assets

Taking a product into new territory.

Expanding a financial analytics platform into digital assets required new account structures, data integrations, and ways of representing a portfolio.

The work

I owned the expansion from requirements and information architecture through production delivery, covering exchange accounts, wallets, portfolio tracking, and analytics.

My contribution

I worked directly with engineering on integrations, implementation tradeoffs, scope, and release priorities, translating product requirements into a deliverable sequence.

Delivered in roughly 9 months.

The contracted product shipped against a 12-month delivery plan through phased prioritization, scope management, and iterative releases.

Inside the work
  • Defined requirements for exchange accounts, on-chain wallets, performance analytics, and AI-generated investment insights.
  • Designed information structures and product workflows spanning retail and B2B use cases.
  • Evaluated later integration, distribution, and monetization opportunities.

Retail intelligence / Distributed operations

Making scale workable.

At an early-stage retail intelligence company, I worked across product, operations, engineering, data quality, and enterprise customers as the business grew.

The work

Projects spanned more than 20,000 U.S. retail locations. Planning, execution, payments, and quality assurance needed to work across a growing distributed workforce.

My contribution

I helped grow the operations function from two to more than 70 contributors, built real-time SQL dashboards, and designed an internal CRM and workflow system.

Approximately 20% better completion rates.

The internal workflow system reduced bottlenecks and improved project completion. Dashboards gave teams a clearer view of progress and quality.

Inside the work
  • Worked with Fortune 500 customers to translate requirements and feedback into product and workflow improvements.
  • Used A/B testing, client feedback, and firsthand production use to identify friction in customer-facing tools.
  • Worked with engineering using Agile methods to turn operational requirements into product priorities.
  • Quri was venture-backed by Matrix Partners, Catamount Ventures, and Simon Equity Partners prior to its acquisition by Trax.
